ELEMENTARY RETREAT

For the last several years, in the spring, the presbytery has hosted an overnight retreat for elementary age students in 2nd - 5th grades. This year the Elementary Retreat will be March 3-4 at Poplar Point. The theme for the retreat is "Names for God", and the keynote speaker is the Rev. Ross Reddick from First Pres. in Sylacauga. Join the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley (PSL) as we travel to Clinton, SC for the Montreat Middle School Conference! We will have three groups carpooling and caravanning from 1)Birmingham, 2)Auburn, and 3)Tuscaloosa.

Register your church group and join our caravan, or, if you have one or two youth who would like to join up with another congregation from the presbytery, let us know and we will help you get registered.

The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) meets biennially in even-numbered years. It consists of commissioners elected by each of its 173 presbyteries. The GA is full of activities: business sessions, committee meetings, an exhibit hall, daily worship services, and mission tours sponsored by the Committee on Local Arrangements. The assembly acts on hundreds of items of business, which it receives through the reports and recommendations of various assembly entities, and through overtures from synods and presbyteries. Those attending the assembly will discover the many ministries in which the church is engaged, will worship together as Presbyterians from throughout the country and the world, will make new friends and renew old acquaintances, and will work to discern the will of Christ for the future of the denomination.
