The history of God’s people has always been the story of a people on the move. That is certainly true for the Camp Committee of the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley, and for its Camping Ministry.

The past three summers we used the Camp ASCCA Dadeville Campus on beautiful Lake Martin. Due to the tornadoes in Alabama last spring, we were unable to have camp there. Camps last summer were held at Rolling Hills camp in Calera, Springville Camp, and Hargis Retreat Center. These camps could not fit us in to their schedule for 2012, so we are again on the move…

Thankfully, the University of Montevallo (see slideshow) has welcomed us as our camp home this summer. Four of our camps will be based there and one (elementary) will be at Camp McDowell (Miller Commons Lodges). 

Throughout the changes in location and new camps, our Mission Statement remains the same.

“Christian camping is an extension of the church’s program of education. It is not apart from, but a part of the church’s educational path to discover God’s will for the world, community and self.”

We covenant your support of, and most especially your prayers for the Camping Ministry during this time of transition. We know that Holy Ground can be found wherever God’s people gather, and that God will be with us every step of the way on our way to Living River!

June 3 - 8: middle school camp 

June 10 - 15: senior high mission camp 

June 17 - 21: discovery camp 

June 22 - 24: you and me camp

June 24 - 29: elementary camp

The four camps held at the University of Montevallo will go to Living River for much of each day for outdoor activities and will be at the University for program times, such as keynotes, singing, Bible studies, and crafts.

Each camp will begin in the late afternoon on the first day and will conclude after lunch on the final day of camp.

We are using Constant Contact Events to manage our online registration this year. It should be really easy to use, and you have the option to pay online or by check.
